A SOMEWHAT DESPERATE SNOBBINGBLOG PLEA FOR ATTENTION
I don’t listen to every show on this radio station. I’m not asking you to listen to every show on this radio station. But this is an important thing for the community, as it is in every community, to have an antidote to the shrill, lowest common denominator, revenue driven corporate drivel that passes for radio in our society today, where the minimum number of ideas are broadcast at the maximum possible volume, and repeated until the listener caves in, or stops thinking. Community radio does something different. It informs and sometimes infuriates. It’s not Top 40 for hipsters. It’s occasionally clumsy and amateurish. The DJ’s have a personality, but they are not “PERSONALITIES” per se. They are your neighbors and friends. They fail and succeed. It’s just like life. You may learn something from what you hear, you may learn nothing. Whatever.
The important thing here is to help them continue their mission. To share something. To share ANYTHING. And I know a lot of people have their hands out these days, looking for support, but, trust me, for purely selfish reasons, you get a lot of bang for your buck supporting community radio wherever you are. The R.O.I. may be infinitesimal from a corporate bottom line aspect, but the good you will do is substantial. But you may have trouble quantifying it for the shareholders.
